Tradition was honored as the Commandant’s message was read to the group and toasts were given to the Corps and fallen Marines. Those with sons or grandsons in the Corps gave updates on their service and plans. The birthday cake was cut with a Mameluke sword by Joe Reed, retired Marine Major, and the first piece of cake went to the youngest Marine present, Dan Burton.

On Nov. 12, AMVETS Post 46 members conducted a Veterans Day ceremony at the Veterans Park, with many community members in attendance.
