Airport terminal project update

Several meetings on the Beaver Island Airport terminal project have taken place in the last few months, the latest – two meetings on Dec. 28 to gather input from the BI Airport Commission and community members on the layout and design elements of the terminal.

The vast majority were in agreement that the terminal should have an “up North,” welcoming look. Mead and Hunt’s aviation planner Stephanie Ward and the architect, Kendra Thompson were in attendance to answer questions on the project. The next meeting is scheduled for Jan. 14, 11 a.m., at Peaine Twp. Hall, which will be a work session on the layout with the commissioners.

To assist those who are not able to attend the meetings, Mead & Hunt (Beaver Island’s airport planners) prepared a “Frequently Asked Questions” document.
