BICS’s 21st Century After School Learning program offers students a wide variety of courses thoroughout the year. The students can participate in several learning clubs, have homework help and tutoring, enjoy snacks and also sign up for fun electives. Many dedicated Islanders are sharing their particular interests and talents with the students in this program.
A recent visit to the Wednesday afternoon sessions found the 5th and 6th graders rehearsing their annual play with teacher/director Deb Robert.
Cindy Ricksgers was teaching a group of young artists about ancient cave paintings, with the youngsters creating their own historic artwork with charcoal and paints.
Dave Avery is the instructor for a Tae Kwon Do class for the older students. He has studied Tae Kwon Do for decades,is a ‘6th Dan,’ and is qualified as an International Master Instructor.
And now there’s good news for ‘older’ life-long learners in the community. Site Coordinator Jenna Wilk recently announced that they will be taking on adult students for Avery’s Tae Kwon Do class beginning March 11. There are limited spaces available for this free course,
so please call Jenna Wilk at the school to register.
