The Island is official “open for summer!” Memorial Weekend was a busy one – lots of folks opening their summer homes, plenty of visitors, a archeological dig at the Print Shop, Gail’s Walk and an AMVETS Memorial Day service. A little rain was most welcome but never seemed to fall during any of the planned activities.
Gail’s Walk found 100 walkers of all ages (not counting the canine crowd) participating. The event raised about $2000 which will assist Islanders facing expensive medical treatments.
The AMVETS Memorial Day service at the new Veteran’s Park was well attended and crowd was thrilled with a fly over from the Coast Guard.
And following the busy weekend, the school held a Career Day on May 29, allowing the students to meet with individuals in a variety of professions.
